A dragon roaring and spewing fire. What would that sound like as metal song? Here´s my take on that idea. Using the bass as rhythm guitar, focusing on slow groovy rhythms and a breakdown that seriously makes you think "WTF?", this is one of my most experimental songs. Fittingly it tells a story about an oppressed people wakening a monster to fight the oppressors, only to loose control and get destroyed along with them.
lyrics
casting aside the days of peace
we open up the gates of misery
to pull ourselves out of this tyranny
time to take back our stolen dignity
we're coming up from underneath
the blackened iron feet of royalty
**rebuke them for their vanity
and place ourselves upon that mighty* seat
take up arms
it's time to show these bandits who we are
make them starve
our blades are sustenance enough for insatiable guts
let them not be fooled
in thinking they can rule
we'll see just how far they can go
before they finally start to know
our reasons were not in vain
our aim was to constrain
that hideous monstrosity
who's terror is his reign
we must have missed the signs
our hatred boiled out
should we have taken it this far?
we had no other choice.
our battle focus breaks
the earth begins to quake
the creature rises up
from ancient slumber wakes
now let´s inhale this burning air
breath beckoning flames
upon the horizon
the silhouette is death
(EVAN)
this moment will lapse into nothing
and i will become part of infinity
this breathe will consume me
as fire becomes me
